Covent Gardens – Roof Structure Video
View on Covent Gardens Website
The client requirement was for an environmentally friendly
structure to house an art gallery in Covent Garden. The structure had to be
erected at night to avoid disruption to the Covent Garden business community
and also safely and quickly and be wind and watertight over one evening. Wyder
Engineered Timber Systems completed the structure on time working through the
night to get the building ready for internal work the very next day. To do
this, we utilised our new panelised spatial roof system which consists of
pre-manufactured roof cassettes that are pre-hinged, enabling the roof to be
erected in just 3 lifts and eliminating completely the requirement for a
supporting structural ridge beam or purlins. The result is a significant
increase in room space, more economical use of products and, crucially, the
installation time to a watertight structure is vastly decreased.
The system is ideal when requiring a room in the roof and a
cost effective alternative to attic trusses, where multiple individual
components mean that erection times are slow, and the eventual roof space is
considerably reduced. We have several configurations depending on the project
requirements.
